Study of dentistry (examination 1980) at Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena (D) Employment as a dentist at polyclinic Greiz (D) 1980 - 1987.
1987 – 2009 research assistant at Institute of Medical Microbiology, University Hospital Jena (D), several research stays at Jagiellonian University Krakow (PL).

Areas of interest in research: In-vitro-evaluation of new antimicrobial therapy in dentistry, biofilm models, Analysis of bacteria and biomarkers in subgingival biofilm and gingival /peri-implant sulcus fluid.
